Visual note app that links cards, PDFs, and videos on an infinite canvas, with local storage and AI search
Flexnote is a local-first note-taking app built on an infinite canvas. You place notes as cards, connect them with bidirectional links, and switch any board to a mind map view. You can annotate PDFs and timestamped videos right on the canvas, then use Flexnote AI for semantic search and Q&A across your notes. Your files stay on your device by default, and sync is optional. It suits students, researchers, and self-learners on Windows, macOS, and Android.
Flexnote is a local-first visual note-taking app. It combines an infinite canvas, mind maps, PDF and video annotation, and AI-powered search. Your notes are stored on your device by default.
There's a free plan with 3 whiteboards and 100 cards. Pro costs $29/quarter or $49/year, and the Lifetime license costs $149 as a limited-time offer (normally $299).
Flexnote runs on Windows 10 or later (64-bit), macOS 11 or later, and Android. An iOS app is in development. The web version currently lets you view whiteboards only.
Flexnote AI adds semantic search, knowledge-base Q&A, and content retrieval through a smart index. Pro and Lifetime include 3,000 Smart Index points, roughly 4,000 notes of about 500 characters. Extra point packs start at $2.99 and don't expire. AI chat uses your own API key and is billed by your model provider.
Yes, on paid plans. Sync is off by default, but you can turn it on through WebDAV (including Nextcloud and ownCloud), Amazon S3, OneDrive, or Baidu Netdisk.
Yes. Flexnote imports Obsidian vaults and Canvas files, Heptabase whiteboards and cards, and SiYuan notebooks. It also syncs references and notes with Zotero.
Notion is cloud-based and built for teams, while Obsidian is built around local Markdown files. Flexnote keeps local storage but puts the focus on a visual canvas, where PDFs, videos, and notes sit together.
