Open-source visual workspace for building with Claude Code, Codex, and other AI coding agents.
Nimbalyst is a free, open-source desktop app that gives you a visual workspace for AI coding agents like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. Instead of running agents in an opaque terminal, you get rich visual editors for markdown, mockups, diagrams, and code, plus inline diff review so nothing changes without your approval. Run parallel agent sessions, organize work on a kanban board, and track tasks in one place. Available on macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS.
Nimbalyst works with Claude Code (by Anthropic) and Codex (by OpenAI) as its primary supported agents. Support for OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, and Codex via ACP is available in alpha. You bring your own API keys or subscriptions for these services.
Yes. The Individual plan is $0/month with no feature limits or trial period. The desktop app is open source under the MIT license. However, you still need to pay for your AI agent access (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) separately.
Nimbalyst is available as a desktop app for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, and Linux. There's also an iOS mobile app for managing agent sessions on the go.
Nimbalyst uses a local-first architecture where all files stay on your machine. It's SOC 2 Type 2 certified, offers opt-out telemetry, and includes a fine-grained permission system with trust levels, permission modes, allowed tools, and filesystem access controls configurable per project.
Absolutely. Product managers use it for PRDs, user journey maps, and feedback analysis. Designers create mockups, prototypes, and design system documentation. Data practitioners clean CSVs and document pipelines. The visual editors support markdown, diagrams, mockups, and spreadsheets alongside code.
Not yet. A Team plan with real-time collaboration, session handoffs, and shared task management is in development. Pricing hasn't been announced. Currently, Nimbalyst is designed for individual use.
Unlike traditional editors, Nimbalyst is built specifically for working with AI coding agents. It provides visual diff review for AI changes, parallel session management, a kanban board for organizing agent work, and purpose-built editors for non-code files like mockups and diagrams, all integrated with the agent workflow.
