Intro:
Pinterest is looking for an experienced and highly technical Technical Program Manager to join the Advanced Technology Group (Advanced Technology Group), a researchâdriven engineering organization focused on advancing Pinterestâs ML/AI and infrastructure capabilities.
This individual will drive crossâcutting programs that span ML research, applied science, infra, and product integration, partnering closely with engineering, research, product, data science, and other TPMs. Youâll operate across multiple domains and paces â from longâterm research explorations to fastâmoving, highâimpact production launches â and help ensure Advanced Technology Groupâs work translates into reliable, scalable systems that power the Pinterest experience.
What youâll do:
Own and drive endâtoâend technical programs across Advanced Technology Group, from problem definition and design through execution, launch, and iteration.
Coordinate work across ML/AI research, infra, and product engineering teams, aligning on goals, milestones, and success metrics.
Design and run operating rhythms (e.g., planning, reviews, launch readiness, postâmortems) that give clarity and focus during periods of heavy change or high stakes.
Partner with engineering and research leads to evaluate technical designs and tradeâoffs, surface risks early, and drive decisions that balance longâterm investments with shortâterm impact.
Manage experimentation and evaluation workflows (offline and online), bringing clarity to results and driving decisions on whether to scale, iterate, or stop.
Build and improve tools, processes, and communication mechanisms that help Advanced Technology Group operate effectively across multiple teams, time horizons, and technical stacks.
Use data and metrics to track program health, identify bottlenecks, and proactively adjust scope and plans.
Communicate program status, risks, and decisions clearly to senior leadership and crossâfunctional stakeholders, tailoring the level of technical detail to the audience.
What weâre looking for:
BS in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience (5+ years in a handsâon technical role).
3+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, or equivalent experience in technical leadership roles driving complex, multiâteam initiatives.
Demonstrated experience working closely with ML/AI and/or infra engineering teams, with the ability to deeply understand system architectures, data flows, and model/infra tradeâoffs.
Ability to use program management tools [Google Sheets, Jira etc] and the ability to use AI tooling to create automated tracking and reporting solutions is a must.
Strong technical breadth and judgment, with the ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies, identify technical risks, and facilitate highâquality technical decisions.
Experience leading large, crossâfunctional programs from inception through launch, including setting scope, managing dependencies, and aligning multiple stakeholders.
Comfort operating in fastâchanging, highâambiguity environments, including researchâheavy or platformâoriented teams.
Proficiency with SQL to analyze data, create dashboards, and inform decisions.
Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and nonâtechnical audiences, in writing and verbally.
Strong relationshipâbuilding and influence skills, with a track record of collaborating effectively across Engineering, Research, Product, and Data Science.
Experience building or evolving processes and operating rhythms for technical teams (e.g., planning, reviews, launch processes) is a plus.

We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role.
This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
